Focus your tiny product team on the few tasks that actually ship the MVP
Early-stage teams drown in ideas but ship on execution. The MVP Build Board is a lean kanban board built for founders and small product teams who need to cut scope ruthlessly and track only what moves the launch forward. Instead of a sprawling backlog, this board forces a small, visible set of tasks across five columns so everyone knows what's next, what's blocked, and what's actually done. Pair it with the MCP server to let an AI agent triage new ideas, move tasks as work progresses, and keep the board honest without manual upkeep.

Capture every feature request or idea before it's scoped, so nothing gets lost but nothing clutters active work.

Consider usage-based pricing tier
Draft rough notes on a metered pricing option to revisit after MVP launch.
Add dark mode toggle
Low-priority visual request from early testers; park here until core flows are stable.
Tasks that have been reviewed and confirmed as must-haves for the first shippable version.
Build user signup and login flow
Email/password auth with basic validation; required before any other feature can be tested end to end.
Create core dashboard view
Single page showing the user's primary data object; no customization yet, just the essential read view.
Set up Stripe checkout
Single fixed-price plan checkout flow, no upgrades/downgrades yet.
Write onboarding email sequence
Three-email drip sent after signup to drive first activation.
Active work currently being built, limited to what one or two people can realistically finish this week.
Implement password reset flow
Add forgot-password email link and reset form; blocks QA sign-off on auth.
Wire dashboard to live API data
Replace mocked data with real backend calls and handle loading/error states.
Integrate Stripe webhook handling
Listen for payment success/failure events and update user account status.
Work that's code-complete and needs a teammate or the founder to verify it meets the MVP bar before launch.
QA signup and login flow
Test edge cases: duplicate emails, weak passwords, expired sessions.
Review onboarding email copy
Founder sign-off on tone and CTA links before the sequence goes live.
Completed and deployed tasks kept visible for a quick sense of MVP progress and momentum.
Deploy landing page
Marketing site live with waitlist signup form connected to the database.
Launch core dashboard to first 10 users
Rolled out to the private beta group; monitoring for errors.
Step 1
Drop every new idea or request into Idea Backlog immediately so nothing is lost or discussed out of context.
Step 2
Once a week, the founder or lead reviews Idea Backlog and promotes only true MVP-blockers into Scoped for MVP.
Step 3
Pull tasks from Scoped for MVP into In Progress one at a time per person, keeping work-in-progress low to avoid context switching.
Step 4
Move finished work to Testing & Review for a second pair of eyes before it's considered done.
Step 5
Shift verified tasks to Shipped to keep a visible record of what's actually live for users.
AI agent usage
An AI agent connected via the MCP server can keep the MVP Build Board lean by auto-filing new requests into Idea Backlog, flagging stale In Progress tasks, and moving completed items into Testing & Review or Shipped based on status updates from the team, reducing manual board maintenance for a small team.
# MVP Build Board Agent Rules
Board columns: Idea Backlog, Scoped for MVP, In Progress, Testing & Review, Shipped.
- New feature requests or ideas from any channel go into Idea Backlog via create_task; never place them directly into Scoped for MVP.
- Only move tasks from Idea Backlog to Scoped for MVP when explicitly instructed by the founder/lead.
- If a task in In Progress has had no update in 5+ days, comment and flag it rather than moving it automatically.
- When a task's checklist or linked PR is marked complete, move it from In Progress to Testing & Review using move_task.
- Move tasks to Shipped only after a human confirms review passed in Testing & Review.
- Respect the plan limit of 25 tasks on the free plan; warn the user before create_task would exceed it.Learn more about the board-centric workflow in Kanban for AI Agents or open the MCP guide.
The free plan supports 1 project with up to 25 tasks total, which comfortably fits this board's sample of 17 tasks with room to add your own.
Yes, columns are fully editable. Just remember to update your AGENTS.md snippet if you rename them so any connected AI agent references the correct column names.
Yes. Any MCP-compatible agent can use get_board, list_tasks, create_task, and move_task to manage this board automatically, following the rules in the included AGENTS.md snippet.
The free plan is limited to 1 project. Upgrading to Pro ($12/mo or $96/yr) removes the single-project restriction if you need to run multiple boards.
Yes, you can manage this board through the macOS app, the REST API, or keyboard shortcuts and the command palette within the web app.
Limit the In Progress column to only what one or two people can finish that week, and rely on the weekly review step to promote new tasks from Scoped for MVP rather than adding them ad hoc.
